Asking My Father In Heaven For A Miracle : Hana {One Korea}

Asking My Father In Heaven For A Miracle

I believe the words that Jesus, said to us, “Ask the Father and He will give us what we ask for.”awaken-hana-cover

I recently visited the DMZ in South Korea, September 9, 2016. I gazed at the separation which stretched before me. Pleasant rolling green hills invited my eyes to enjoy the panoramic view. However, just on the other side, Kim Jung-Un had performed its fifth nuclear test at Punggye-ri underground site, only hours before my visit. I defer to the DMZ as the “ugliest place in the world.” My heart was torn to see with my own eyes the brokenness suffered by the two Koreas through the last 70 years.

How will this ever end ? I think of the letters written by my cousin, Zola Payne, during her service as a missionary nurse between 1920-1939. She bore witness to one of most amazing revivals this world has ever seen, when Korea was one Korea. What would she say about her beloved Korea? I quote her, “God is in His Heaven.”

 “It would take a miracle for Korea become one Korea.”

Before I started writing Awaken Hana, I could not understand why North and South Korea had not reunited after the collapse of the USSR in 1991, and I began to investigate the reason about 5 years ago. When I started my research, I spoke to an American Korean pastor on the phone. He explained to me a “world” I had no idea existed, a world where they believe the great leader Kim IL Sung and Kim Jung Il are divine and North Koreans are required to worship them. Our informative conversation was brief. But, his closing words were, “It would take a miracle for Korea become one Korea.” He meant impossible.

When I think of the North Koreans and what I have learned of the human rights violations that have been committed against humanity, the only solution I can imagine is for the North Korean regime to be dissolved. I pray this will happen without bloodshed. Military intervention by the United States, South Korea, Japan, or China, would be disastrous. This is common knowledge and common sense. I believe the solution will ultimately come from the North Koreans. With changes in technology, a more open market, defectors leaving and then those returning with tastes of freedom, their hearts are becoming dissatisfied. It has been raining Bibles, and as a result North Koreans desire truth and love instead of isolation.

I am like a child when I talk to my Father in Heaven. I believe He will give me what I ask of Him. I am asking God for the impossible, for a miracle that is at the center of His heart. It was He who gave me this hope and prayer, and thankfully He will not take this gift of prayer away from me. I ask that you will join me. Ask Him to give you the gift of praying for a miracle for North and South Korea. Ask Him to Awaken Hana {One Korea} in your heart.

“For God is in His heaven” —Zola Payne, missionary nurse in Korea, 1920-1939.

  1. I think witnessing it first hand and being able to physically see the separation is the only way to truly grasp what is going on there. It is wonderful that you were able to experience that.

    • Being able to witness the separation of Korea was enlightening.
      Thank you for your reponce

    • I think the revival that took place pre WWII in Korea was incredibly powerful,
      yet unknown by Christians.
